Why did the RCMP shoot my dog?

When the RCMP was asked to investigate a video showing a woman being shot with a rifle, a spokeswoman for the RCMP in Alberta said she was unaware of the allegations against the officer who shot the woman.

“If you’re going to investigate something like that, you should be able to go and speak to the person that shot the person,” said Const.

Marie-Eve-Marianne Vasseur.

“So, I’m not aware of any specific information that has come to my attention that would suggest any wrongdoing or inappropriate conduct, and if there is, I’ll have an opportunity to address it.”

When the Alberta Provincial Police was contacted, Vasseu said she could not confirm if the woman in the video had been fired, but she said the RCMP would “work with the investigation team to determine what occurred and to ensure any appropriate disciplinary action is taken.”

RCMP spokeswoman Marie-Esme Vasseurs told CBC News the RCMP is working with the Alberta RCMP to determine if an officer was disciplined.

“We will follow the protocol and process,” she said.

“But I can’t go into any specifics, and we’ll let the investigation process play out.”

The RCMP said it was in contact with the woman’s family, but the family’s lawyer, Steve Jankowski, said he is not sure whether the woman is still alive.

“This is something that’s been going on for years and years, and I don’t know if they’re going do anything to get the facts out,” he said.

Jankowsky said his client was a young woman who had just finished her second year of university and had been employed by the RCMP for several years.

He said the woman, who was not identified, was walking through the woods with her dog on June 14, 2017, when a rifle-toting officer in a dark blue vehicle approached her and opened fire.

“It happened in broad daylight, so you know, it could have been anywhere,” he told CBC.

“There was no reason for the person to have any reason to shoot her, or shoot her dog.”

Vasseud said the incident is under investigation by the Alberta Police Service and the RCMP has also been in touch with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

“It’s really frustrating to me,” she told CBC Calgary.

“Because this is what we’re supposed to be doing here, to protect the public.”

The incident is being investigated by RCMP in Calgary.

An RCMP spokesperson said the Mounties are still working to determine whether the officer involved is being disciplined.

The incident has reignited a national conversation about the role of law enforcement in society, and how they can be held accountable for their actions.

“The RCMP has a very strict training and protocol in place,” the spokesperson said.

“And they are trained to act with integrity, but they also have a very important responsibility to protect and serve the public in a way that respects all of our rights and freedoms.””
