The Manchester United team has confirmed the number of players they will be featuring in their matchday squads for their Premier League match at Southampton on Saturday.

United will take on the Saints for the first time in over three years when they kick off at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The squad features nine new faces as they prepare for the game against a team they are currently chasing, but it is also a squad that has seen several key players leave the club in recent years.

Wayne Rooney has not been with the team since the summer of 2018, whilst Daley Blind is set to miss out on the tournament with a hamstring injury.

New signing Juan Mata is also missing out with a calf injury, and the former England international has been linked with a return to Old Trafford as well.

The Red Devils have also confirmed that the squad will feature a number of young prospects.

Neymar, a teenager who made his senior debut in 2018, will be the first signing for the squad.

United have also unveiled the names of the three substitutes that will be on the pitch against the Saints, and they have made a couple of changes in their squad that will add some extra variety to the side.

In goal, former United striker Marcus Rashford is back on the bench, with a new signing in the form of Matteo Darmian.

New signing Kevin Strootman is the third defender to be added to the squad, and it is the former Southampton captain who has been named as the centre-back for Saturday’s game.

Darmian has been one of United’s best performers this season, and will make his first appearance since the 3-0 win over Norwich on August 13.

Ahead of the game, United are also expected to make a couple more changes to their starting line-up for the match against Southampton.

Sergio Romero is expected to be rested for the Premier League game, and Paul Pogba will be fit to face Southampton after picking up a minor knock in training on Friday.

Striker Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who was injured in the 4-2 win over Leicester on August 4, will also miss the match.

There will be no changes to the team that was beaten by Southampton on August 11, with the United squad set to be bolstered by the signing of a new loan signing from Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund, as well as the signing from the Italian champions of former England midfielder Paul Pogac.
